www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/stations/a/alexandra_dock_lor/index.shtml"Alexandra Dock Station was the terminus station of the relatively short branch that connected to LNWR Canada Dock Branch (opened in 1866) at Atlantic Dock Junction, which was situated in a deep cutting at the rear of the L&YR Bank Hall MPD. The branch opened on 5th September 1881 and it had stations at Balliol Road and Alexandra Dock. When it opened on 5.8.1881 the station was named 'Atlantic Dock' but it was renamed five days later on 10.9.1881 to Alexandra Dock the name which it kept until closure. The station was a single platform terminus but it had an overall roof. Its booking office was located on Liverpool's busy 'Dock Road' (although its correct name was always Regent Road at this point) and confusingly there was another station called Alexandra Dock a short walk away on the Liverpool Overhead Railway. Throughout its life Alexandra Dock Station was served by local services that started at Liverpool Lime Street and then called at all stations along the Canada Dock Branch before turning north at Atlantic Dock Junction and heading for the terminus at Alexandra Dock. This service finished on 31.5.1948. The line was always more busy for freight and remains so to this day as it connects with the north Liverpool docks."
